December 4: Amos 1-9

Amos 1-9

“When will the new moon be over, so that we may sell grain … to cheat with dishonest scales, so as to buy … the needy for a pair of sandals? (8:5-6). God requires justice and compassion, but Amos said Israel only cared about money and pleasure. They hurried through religious festivals so that they could get back to making money, and they valued profit over human beings. They never imagined that God saw, cared, and was going to judge them.

Love for God is revealed in the little things: how we work, how we rest, and how we treat others.
