Psalm 139
“If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Thy hand will lead me” (v9-10). While many psalms describe God’s miracles or His beauty in nature, this one describes God’s intensely personal relationship with an individual. God knows us intimately, our actions and thoughts and plans (v1-2). Anywhere we go, God is already there (v7-12). God knows our past, and He has good purposes for us (v13-16).
God doesn’t use His knowledge to control us or frighten us. Trusting His loving mercy, the psalmist said, “Know my heart” and “lead me in the everlasting way” (v24).
