December 5: II Samuel 17-19

II Samuel 17-19

"For you have shown today that princes and servants mean nothing to you" (19:6). Joab accused King David of ignoring the courageous sacrifice of the people who restored him to Israel's throne. King David grieved for his son Absalom - naturally. The problem was that he refused to rejoice with and appreciate those who had fought for him. The kingdom was in confusion. Finally, David took Joab's advice and made himself available to his people.

Each common soldier or servant who had risked his life had value. Each part of the body, as Paul said, needs the other (I Cor 12).
