December 5: Psalm 64

Psalm 64

“Preserve my life from the dread of the enemy” (v1).  The psalmist was desperately afraid of his enemies. Many of us know the kind of dread he described – an overwhelming fear and anxiety.  One of his enemies’ favorite strategies was to shoot arrows of “bitter speech” (v3), and most of us have felt the pain of harsh words.  Yet, the psalmist knew where to take these troubles: to the God who fights for us.

Fear doesn’t have to conquer us.  “The righteous man will be glad in the Lord, and will take refuge in Him” (v10).
