December 7: Acts 10

Acts 10

“God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him” (v35).  Before this, Jewish Peter and the devout, God-fearing (but Roman) Cornelius would have been separated, unable to share food or fellowship.  In a dramatic vision, God told Peter to eat foods forbidden by Jewish law, symbolizing that He was welcoming foreigners to Himself.  Peter then preached Jesus to Cornelius and his friends, and they were filled with the Spirit.

God calls us to lay aside our barriers of language, customs and nationality to be one people in Jesus Christ.
