Obadiah & Jonah 1-4
“For I knew that Thou art a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness …” (Jonah 4:2). Jonah feared the “God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land” (1:9). But he didn’t really know God. The pagan sailors he met knew immediately that it was catastrophic to run from the Creator (v10). The pagan king of Nineveh, when he heard God’s Word, immediately repented and asked for mercy. Jonah knew the Law but had resisted God’s heart.
God loved the lost people of Nineveh (4:11). Knowing Him means sharing His compassion for the world.
