December 9: Micah 5-7

Micah 5-7

“And this One will be our peace” (5:5). From little Bethlehem, said the prophet Micah, a ruler would go forth whose movements “are from the days of eternity” (5:2). His birth would usher in a larger kingdom, open to “many nations,” not only Israel (4:2). Despite human sin, Micah said this promise would be fulfilled because God “does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love” (7:18).

“Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea” (7:19). God’s unchanging love sent Jesus, the ruler from Bethlehem, to take away our sins.
