February 1: Genesis 27-28

Genesis 27-28

“Do you have only one blessing, my father?” (27:38). Esau’s cry was filled with pain. He had little hope of Jacob’s glorious future. The words Isaac had spoken prophetically over Jacob were destined to come true, and Esau knew it. But while Isaac had “only one blessing” of that sort, God had much more. Jacob inherited God’s unique covenant with Abraham, but Esau’s descendants would ultimately share with them the riches of mercy in Christ.

God does not play favorites. He calls us each by name, and His lovingkindness toward us is “beyond what we ask or imagine” (Eph 3:20).
