Genesis 39-41

“How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?” (39:9). God is the hero of Joseph’s story. “The Lord was with Joseph” (or caused him to prosper) is repeated eight times in chapter 39 alone. However, Joseph cooperated with God, and his words reveal a heart clearly different than the bragging boy of years earlier. Joseph had become a powerful and attractive manager in Potiphar’s house, but he didn’t allow pride to tempt him to sin.

Joseph wasn’t in control of events; he only controlled his attitude and response. Regardless of consequences, he chose to be on God’s side.
