Psalm 77
“Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end?” (v7-8). These are painfully honest questions, asked when the psalmist was “disturbed” by some unsolvable problem (v3). He didn’t stop with questions, but also meditated on the truth: “I shall remember the deeds of the Lord … Thou art the God who works wonders” (v11-14). He remembered the time when the Israelites were trapped, and they saw “Thy paths in the mighty waters” (v19)
The psalmist found hope in the fact that God’s people had walked through deep waters before, and “Thou didst lead Thy people like a flock” (v20), to safety.
