February 13: Psalm 78

Psalm 78

“The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows, yet they turned back in the day of battle” (v9).  Israel often failed to trust in the God who provided miraculously for them.  The sons of Ephraim were equipped with bows, fully capable of victory, just as the whole nation was equipped with the Law, the rhythms of worship, and the memory of countless miracles.  Yet “they did not believe in God, and did not trust in His salvation” (v22).

Rather than living in fear, we are called to live by faith, trusting that the God who saved us has fully equipped us for every battle (Eph 6).
