February 14: Psalm 8

Psalm 8

“When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars …” (v3). No generation has ever been as separated from God’s creation as we are; the stars and seasons no longer determine our rhythms. But the psalmist spent most of his life outside. He observed that though humans are physically insignificant, yet God has made us in His image, crowned with glory and majesty (v5). We have the awesome responsibility of managing God’s glorious creation (v6-8).

“How majestic is Thy name in all the earth!” Learning about, cultivating, and enjoying what God has made can be an act of worship.
