Genesis 43-44
“You have done wrong in doing this” (44:5). By falsely accusing his brothers of stealing, Joseph seemed to be hinting at his power to secretly punish them for their real crime (selling him into slavery). Most people would acknowledge Joseph’s right to do this, and some would even say that God made him ruler of Egypt in order to bring his brothers to justice. But God had a very different plan, because He has a very different way of addressing human evil.
By transforming Joseph’s slavery into salvation for his family, God demonstrated His awesome power to redeem our sins by His sacrificial love.
