February 20: Psalm 9

Psalm 9

“For the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted perish forever” (v18). To be remembered by God, in the Bible, is usually a good thing. God “remembered” Israel when they cried out to Him, and He rescued them. Those who refuse His mercy are more than destroyed; He has “blotted out their name forever and ever … the very memory of them has perished” (v5-6). But God notices those who are humble and hurting, and He will comfort them.

God does not forget any of His promises. One day every “hope of the afflicted” will be satisfied in Jesus Christ.
