Ezra 6
“Let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews rebuild this house of God on its site … the full cost is to be paid to these people from the royal treasury” (v7-8). The Jews had been intimidated, threatened, and ordered to stop work. Now, after King Darius found Cyrus’ decree supporting the Temple’s reconstruction, everything changed. Suddenly, the Jews even had the financial support of the Persian Empire for their building project. God did what He had declared through Zechariah: “I will restore double to you” (Zeph 9:12).
We often underestimate the God who does “exceeding abundantly beyond” what we imagine (Eph 3).
