II Chronicles 22-23
“Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as the Lord has spoken concerning the sons of David” (23:3). David’s royal line in Judah came very close to being wiped out under the reigns of Jehoram and his son Ahaziah. To protect his power, Jehoram had killed his brothers, and later his wife, Queen Athaliah, murdered the royal grandchildren (22:10). The bravery of Jehoram’s daughter, princess Jehoshabeath (married to a priest), saved one small baby from the bloodbath and preserved King David’s line.
Raised in a corrupt and violent atmosphere, princess Jehoshabeath risked everything for a different future: a kingdom where goodness reigned.
