“And Jesus was going about all the cities and the villages … proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness” (v35-36). What a revolution. Traditionally, religion had mostly been about control (idol-worship) and group identity (you’re either in or out). But Jesus declared the good news: the Creator is concerned about us, our sin and disease and despair, and He has come in the flesh to help us.

Jesus “felt compassion” for the broken humans around Him (v36). He is the perfect picture of the one true God, full of grace and truth.
