February 7: Psalm 7

Psalm 7

“Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me” (v1). The psalmist had been falsely accused (v3-5), and he asked God to “vindicate” him, to make his integrity obvious to everyone else (v8). Through history, many good people have been falsely accused and even unfairly punished: the prophets, Jesus Himself, the early Christian martyrs, and countless others today who suffer anonymously. Sometimes their innocence is proven, but not always. Whether or not the world approves of them, their integrity shines brightly before God.

God sees “hearts and minds” (v9), and He is the Judge who matters most in the end.
