Genesis 35-37
“Please listen to this dream which I have had” (37:6). Joseph’s dream was a true one, but his naïve bragging demonstrated that it was not nearly time yet for the dream’s fulfillment. Joseph, at 17, was spoiled. He was “loved more than his brothers;” he “brought back a bad report” about his brothers to his father, and he was already deeply estranged from his brothers (v4). Many years would pass before Joseph could become the leader he saw in his dream.
God always accomplishes His Word. Along the way, He may teach us the lessons Joseph learned: patience, trust, faithfulness, and forgiveness.
