January 1: Psalm 69

Psalm 69

“Save me, O God, for the waters have threatened my life” (v1).  All of us, at some point, have felt like we were drowning in problems.  The psalmist was in a complicated situation, facing enemies, false accusations, and a damaged reputation (v4-8).  He was broken-hearted, sick, and desperate for help (v20).  He called out in faith: “O God, in the greatness of Thy lovingkindness, answer me with Thy saving truth” (v13).  He knew that God always intervenes, bringing truth and light to murky problems, pulling us from the deep waters.

“You who seek God, let your heart revive” (v32).  He will not fail to rescue us.
