January 12: Genesis 8

Genesis 8

“I will never again curse the ground because of man … neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done” (v21).  God’s covenant with Noah was a re-commitment to the world He had created.  God is “gracious and merciful” (Neh 9:31), and though He was grieved, He promised to continue in relationship with the world.  More than that, God would not allow our sin to destroy the good future He planned.

God is love, and therefore He doesn’t easily give up.  Paul says that love “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (I Cor 13:7).
