Genesis 12-13

“Please say that you are my sister …” (v13). This strange episode points out that even though Abraham believed God and obeyed Him in the matter of moving toward Canaan, his faith was not mature in all areas. Abraham was human, and he was afraid that Pharaoh would kill him in order to marry beautiful Sarah. Thinking of his own safety, he lied and allowed Sarah to become Pharaoh’s wife (v19). Only God’s intervention saved them.

Thankfully, God knows us well, including our fears, weaknesses, and immaturity. But He calls us to grow up, especially in trusting Him.
