Genesis 10
“These are the clans of the sons of Shem, by their clans, their languages, their lands, and their nations” (v31). Part of humanity’s mission to fill the earth included developing diverse languages and cultures. God’s creative power had already been revealed in the amazing variety of plants, animals, and landscapes of earth. Now humans began to spread out and reflect God’s glory by their diverse cultures. This is a process initiated by God.
In the New Testament, God’s people are unified by being “of one heart and soul,” (Acts 4:32) – loving and serving the same Christ - not sameness of language or culture.
