Psalm 3
“I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me” (v5). The psalmist’s life was not easy or peaceful: “O Lord, how many are my foes!” (v1). He had “friends” who doubted even God couldn’t help him. “Many are saying of my soul, there is no salvation for him in God” (v2). But when he called out, God answered (v4), and that was enough. No matter what enemies confronted him, he knew that “Salvation belongs to the Lord” (v8).
Each day brings new challenges that aren’t easily resolved. But we can sleep at night, knowing God, our shield (v3), is at work on our behalf.
