Genesis 12
“Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you” (v1). Abram could have stayed in Haran and built his own little kingdom, but instead he answered God’s radical command with obedience. He believed God’s promise: “I will make of you a great nation … and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (v2-3). He saw nothing visible to give him proof; he simply acted on God’s word.
Abram wasn’t perfect, and in Egypt he gave in to fear (v11-20). But he left behind security and a predictable future in order to follow God’s voice.
