January 17: Psalm 3

Psalm 3

“I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me” (v5). The psalmist stubbornly refused to let his enemies rob him of sleep and peace. “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me” (v6). His enemies sought to destroy his trust in God: “Many are saying of my soul, ‘There is no deliverance for him in God’” (v2). But he was planted firmly on the Rock.

Giving in to fear and anxiety allows the enemy of our souls to triumph. We can live in peace because the Father loves us.
