Psalm 72

"He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and the lives of the needy he will save ... and their blood will be precious in his sight" (v14). There are few human leaders who believe that the blood of the poor and oppressed is truly precious. This psalm expresses longing for a righteous King, who will be perfectly fair, wise, and compassionate. Until He comes, we live as His ambassadors, expressing His character through our own lives.

We look forward to the King whose name will "endure forever" (v17). He will bring peace "like showers that water the earth" (v6).
