Genesis 2
“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him” (v18). The story of Eve’s creation describes the core of the human community: the family. In the garden, the man and woman were not in competition. Built into Adam’s DNA was the desire for companionship, and Eve was God’s answer. Together, they were charged with the wonderful responsibility to fill the earth and manage it (1:28).
United with God and one another before the fall, the couple was called to move out into the world with courage and joy, participating in God’s plans for the earth (1:28; 2:24).
