January 2: Psalm 70

Psalm 70

“And let those who love Thy salvation say continually, ‘Let God be magnified’” (v4).  The psalmist was being tormented by those who wanted to hurt him (v2).  He described the wicked as “those … who say, “Aha, aha!”  This arrogant, mocking exclamation sums up the attitude of those who hate God and His people.  In contrast, those who “love Thy salvation” are looking for ways to let His glory shine in the world (v4).

“But I am afflicted and needy …” Alone, the psalmist was a victim.  But as he looked at his circumstances through eyes of faith, he could say, “Let God be magnified.”
