January 27: Genesis 25-26

Genesis 25-26

“Do not go down to Egypt; stay in the land of which I shall tell you.  Sojourn in this land and I will be with you … I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven …” (26:2-4).  When a famine struck Canaan (v1), Isaac faced a test of faith.  The land had been promised to Abraham, but Abraham was dead.  Now Isaac was in charge, and it was his choice whether or not to stay in the land and believe God.

God’s covenant with Abraham wasn’t enough.  Isaac had to trust God in the present, to test God’s faithfulness for himself.
