January 31: Psalm 6

Psalm 6

“Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am pining away; heal me, O Lord, for my bones are dismayed” (v2). The psalmist’s references to rebuking and chastening (v1) indicate that his misery may have been his own fault. But he knew God’s mercy and love, so he called out: “Save me because of Thy lovingkindness” (v4). The psalmist was convinced that God does not “kick us when we’re down,” but tenderly picks us back up.

Sin-induced trouble is a great occasion for repentance. We can run to God, trusting Him to forgive us, heal us, and show us a better path
