Proverbs 1
“My son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths” (v15). The proverbs are written as if a father is giving advice to his grown son. He tells his son not to make ungodly people his intimate friends; in the end, he will become like them. They will destroy themselves; “they set an ambush for their own lives” (v18). Instead, the voice of wisdom says “whoever listens to me will dwell secure” (v33).
We don’t make moral choices in a vacuum. Our decisions are shaped by how we spend our time and the people we choose as our our daily companions.
