January 4: Psalm 70

Psa

 Psalm 70

"Thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay" (v5). The psalmist turned to God the Deliverer, no matter what the danger was. Sometimes he was fighting those who sought to humiliate or wound him (v2); other times, he was fighting his own capacity for evil. When he realized "I am afflicted and needy" (v5), unable to fight his own battles, God was ready to rescue him.

Paul reminded us that we are in a battle against "spiritual forces of wickedness," and we can't always see the enemy (Eph 6). God is our Rock and Defender.
