January 6: Genesis 4-5

Genesis 4-5

“My punishment is too great to bear! … from Thy face I shall be hidden” (4:14). Though humans didn’t live in Eden in perfect fellowship with the Lord anymore, they still had a relationship with Him in those early days of history. Cain and Abel both knew about sacrifice, obedience, and sin, and Cain talked directly to the Lord after the murder. Cain understood that living in God’s presence, being part of His people, mattered more than anything else on earth.

Sin separates us from God. Jesus cleanses us from sin, and He also brings us back into fellowship with the Father.
