I Kings 19-20
"Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you" (v7). Elijah, mighty man of God, had called down fire from heaven and killed Baal's prophets, but now he was tired and scared. He hid himself in the wilderness and lay down to die, lacking strength to continue the fight. But God dealt gently with His servant, miraculously providing food and water. And at Horeb, God didn't overwhelm Elijah with His power. Instead, He spoke in "a gentle blowing" (19:12).
God never forgets that we are human. He knows that even His strongest servants need food, rest, and encouragement.
