January 8: I Kings 21-22

I Kings 21-22

"As the Lord lives, what the Lord says to me, that I will speak" (22:14). Micaiah already had the reputation of an honest man. King Ahab hated him because "he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil" (v8). Micaiah was called to speak the truth, and he accepted the consequences. When he prophesied that Israel would be defeated in battle, he was struck (v24) and thrown in prison. His words came true.

Micaiah knew speaking the truth would endanger his life. But he spoke without fear, knowing that God was the One in charge of life and death.
