Matthew 1

“To Abraham was born Isaac …” Matthew begins with this list to demonstrate that God’s plan to send Jesus began long, long ago. The promises God gave to Abraham (and Abraham believed!) were not completely fulfilled until the birth of a baby nearly 2000 years later. During those centuries, men and women lived out their own stories (like Rahab and Ruth and David), but they were also taking part in a greater Story.

Our lives are also part of that Story. We are still part of God’s plan to spread His redeeming love through the world.
