January 9: Matthew 2

Matthew 2

“And when they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy …” (v10-11). The magi from the East were sensitive to the Spirit’s voice, just as Mary and Joseph and others were. The magi knew that a King had been born, and they traveled far to find Him. They recognized the King (even in his surprising, humble baby form), and they also recognized Herod’s evil intentions. Like Joseph, they believed in the dreams God sent.

The angels and stars were not the only voices in the magi’s world. Like us, they had to distinguish truth from lies in order to follow Jesus.
