July 10: Psalm 106

Psalm 106

“Then they despised the pleasant land” (v24).  Tragically, the Israelites rejected the promises of God in order to embrace a broken and corrupted world.  After being rescued from Egypt, “they exchanged their glory for the image of an ox that eats grass” (v20).  God had given them the Law, but they chose to imitate the violence and sexuality of their pagan neighbors.  “They even sacrificed their sons and daughters to the demons” (v37).  Blinded by sin, they rejected the joy and peace of God’s kingdom.

“They forgot God their Savior” (v21), but He did not forget them.  We may be easily led astray, but He remains faithful (v44-46).
