Psalm 36
“And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Thy wings” (v7). The children of men, of course, are all of us – humans who are filled with “wickedness and deceit” (v3). The psalmist saw the depths of evil in human nature: “transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart” (v1). But we were made by a loving, holy God, and He did not abandon us when we sinned. His lovingkindness “extends to the heavens” (v5).
Though we recognize the darkness in the world, we trust in God’s mercy. “For with Thee is the fountain of life” (v9).
