II Corinthians 12
“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness” (v9). As Paul’s leadership and reputation increased, God sent him “a thorn in the flesh” to keep him from exalting himself (v7). This unwanted difficulty, whatever it was, kept Paul from relying too much on his own wisdom, strength, or abilities. He learned to be “well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses …” (v10), because he found that God worked through these things for His glory.
God knows us each intimately. He knows when we need comfort and encouragement, and when we need our egos deflated. His grace is sufficient for us.
