Psalm 106:1-27
“We have sinned like our fathers, we have committed iniquity” (v6). The early believers knew that the Old Testament stories were written “for our instruction” (Rom 15:4). Each generation admitted, like the psalmist, “we have behaved wickedly” (v6). God did miracles for the ancient Israelites, but they “quickly forgot His works” (v13). He gave them a home, but they took for granted His blessings and “despised the pleasant land.” They were not able to save themselves, and neither are we.
Our salvation is that “His lovingkindness is everlasting” (v1). In Christ God has covered our sins with His love.
