II Corinthians 10:8-18
“Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when absent, such persons we are also in deed when present” (v11). Paul was not a charismatic, attractive preacher with natural gifts. The Corinthians said, “his letters are weighty and strong, but his personal presence is unimpressive, and his speech contemptible” (v10). Paul told them his authority came from deeds. He refused to boast and left his approval to God (v15-18).
“You are looking at things as they are outwardly.” God calls us to reject the worship of appearance and instead value the heart, as He does.
