Job 31
“If I have despised the claim of my male or female slaves when they filed a complaint against me … what then could I do when God arises?” (v13). No one knows exactly when Job was written. While defending himself, Job described the basics of righteousness in every culture and time. God expects us to treat the powerless with fairness and kindness (whether servants or employees), be faithful to our spouse (v9), provide for the poor (v16-23), welcome foreigners (v32), and worship Him alone (v24-28).
God’s ways haven’t changed (James 1:27). Righteousness is simply sharing His love for the world.
