Psalm 37
“Do not fret, it leads only to evildoing” (v8). We feel a certain kind of anxiety when others seem to be getting ahead of us. But this psalm admonishes us not to focus on “the one who prospers in his way” (v7), even if it feels like we are being left behind. Jealousy and anxiety tend to lead to bad choices. Instead, the psalmist advises us to “trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness” (v3).
We are called to do what is right, be faithful in our responsibilities (big or small), and trust God with our hearts’ desires (v4).
