July 21: II Corinthians 11

II Corinthians 11

“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ” (v13). Paul taught about forgiveness, gentleness, and concern for others. But when it came to the gospel truth, he said that corrupted teachers should not be tolerated. The Corinthians were “bearing with the foolish” (v19) to their own destruction; they were in danger of accepting “another Jesus whom we have not preached” (v4). They were being led astray from “the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” (v3).

In the light of truth, lies are easily recognized. If we know Jesus and His Word, we won’t be led astray.
