July 21: Luke 14

Luke 14

“A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many” (v16).  Jesus compared God’s kingdom to a rich man giving a wonderful banquet.  Many refused the invitation because they thought other things were more important: their work, their relationships, and their own goals.  They didn’t recognize the amazing gift being offered them.  So the rich man told his servant to go out and invite “the poor and crippled and blind and lame” (v21).  He knew that these desperate people would eagerly accept the invitation.

To receive mercy, we must joyfully accept the invitation to the banquet.
