Joshua 6-8

"When I saw among the spoil a beautiful mantle from Shinar and two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold fifty shekels in weight, then I coveted them and took them” (7:21).  Achan was an Israelite, part of a nation chosen, protected and defended by God.  He was part of an army which had conquered a city by shouting.  Yet when he saw riches, he wanted them more than anything else. 

Rahab, in contrast, left behind her possessions, security, and her identity in order to belong to the family of God (Josh 6:25).  She wanted life with Him more than anything else.
