Proverbs 26
“Like an archer who wounds everyone, so is he who hires a fool …” (v10). The biblical view of a “fool” isn’t someone who is simply ignorant, but instead someone who deliberately, persistently chooses the wrong way. The proverbs say that because of his character, this person threatens everyone around him (v6,19), and simply giving him positive opportunities won’t change him. His foolishness isn’t harmless, but destructive.
Foolish people hurt everyone, especially the innocent. God doesn’t make light of sin, nor erase the consequences, but by grace He calls everyone to real repentance and change.
