July 29: Galatians 1

Galatians 1

“I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel …” (v6). Paul wanted to correct false ideas disturbing the Galatian believers. They were not turning to a new religion (or back to idolatry), but instead they were allowing distortions to corrupt the gospel. Salvation by grace is completely opposed to the world’s wisdom – and thus easily twisted.

Jesus “who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil age” (v4) calls us to faith in Him, nothing more or less.
